The party’s DUN Kepayan Chief Coordinator, Sam Koh Chik Ping said local authority should also endeavor to ensure periodical inspection on the housing conducted to prevent overgrowing that will not only pose health risks but also damages to drainages or electrical lines.

“Residents of Taman Oriental have informed us of the wild vegetation of bananas and aquatic plants that causing stagnation in the drainage system.
Upon our inspection, the stagnation is emitting foul odour and mosquitoes can be seen flying all over the area.

We hope the local authority will quickly assist in the clearing and cleaning of the drainage system here because it is unfair to request residents to pay the quarterly house assessment on time over poor maintenance,” he stated in a statement today after his team visited the area today (Sunday).

Warisan members involved in the inspection at Taman Oriental on Sunday were the Penampang Division Chief, Jeffrey Leiking, Wanita Division Chief, Junny Simol, Wira Division Deputy Chief, Jeremiah Stambul and Political Assistant to Datuk Darell Leiking, TV Yong.
Sam also highlighted the forest-like condition of Lorong Puluduk 4 at Taman Puluduk Yue Min that residents fear will not only become a place for venomous snakes to live but also a hide out for burglars.

“I hope Majlis Perbandaran Penampang can have a look at this matter and perhaps instruct or inform the owner to clean up the wild vegetation on the land.

We are not against the owner or whoever is using the land to plant cash crops such as vegetables but at least they should keep the area tidy,” he concluded.
