PENAMPANG : Parti Warisan Penampang Division is disappointed with the omission by the GRS-led State Government to include fundings for Dual Learning Program (DLP) in primary and secondary schools all over Sabah in the State’s 2025 Budget.

According to Pritchard Gumbaris, who is the Political Secretary to the Deputy President of Warisan Darell Leiking, DLP is crucial to enable Sabah students especially in the rural areas to master the English Language, Science and Mathematics all at the same time and to increase their employability chances once they finished school.
“Sarawak had spent millions of ringgit since 2019 to boost the DLP in the State and in fact had recently set up its own DLP known as DLP Sarawak.
Sarawak is ambitious to make English as medium for Science and Maths in the secondary schools by 2026 but how about Sabah?
This is indeed saddening and our Sabahan students should not pay the price and be left out due to the ignorance and incapability of PGRS leaders, particularly the Chief Minister, to appreciate the need to master the English language proficiently,” he stated in statement today.
Pritchard also stated that Warisan Penampang Division passed several resolutions in its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 17 November that, among other things, will ensure DLP become a priority for the State and receive the requisite fundings for its implementation.
“We had passed 5 Core Agendas that will become the division’s immediate focus should Warisan receive the mandate from the Sabahans to form the new State Government.
One of the these agendas is to ensure DLP taught in the primary and secondary schools not only in Penampang but other districts in Sabah as well will receive fundings from the State Government for its succesful implementation and enhancements.
And through this agenda, we will also ensure Warisan form a strategic partnership between Parent Action Group for Education (PAGE), National Union of Teaching Profession and Ministry of Education to boost DLP in the State so that our Sabahan students can master English Language, Science and Mathematics all at the same time.
Our division believe that producing a first class human capital through solid foundation in English, Science and Mathematics is crucial to enable us to end poverty in the State and having influential national leaders in the likes of Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal and Datuk Darell Leiking as the party leaders will enable our vision becomes a reality,” he concluded.
