KOTA KINABALU : Parti Warisan Putatan Division had requested the relevant authorities to install street lightings immediately along the Ulu Terawi-Putatan road to prevent untoward accident at night involving motorists and road users.

The party’s division Women Chief, Juriah Uda said that as a suburban district that lay between Penampang and Kota Kinabalu, Putatan should not be facing such infrastructure and utilities issue such as having no streetlights.
“The dark Ulu Terawi-Putatan road is dangerous especially whenever it rains and the lack of illumination can cause limited sight distance to some drivers (especially those driving smaller cars) which in turn will increase the risk of road accident.
The safety of motorists and road users of this road must be given the highest priority by our government while the elected representative who is a member of the Government and also the Putatan District Action Committee should also be mindful on the needs of the community in this area.

The installation of solar street lights at this Ulu Terawi-Putatan road do not involve a huge cost but what matter most is that the Government fulfilled its responsibilities to prevent financial losses or even loss of lives because of accident due to lack of illumination,” she said.
