Show Some Commitment To Manage the District

KOTA KINABALU : An official from Parti Warisan Penampang Division had taken to task the GRS / PH district councillors sitting in the Penampang Municipal Council (PMC) over the deplorable condition of the running track inside Penampang Sports Complex.

Donald Masudal

The Deputy Chief of District Monitoring Unit (UPD) of Warisan Penampang, Donald Masudal said the sad condition of the only sport facility track in Penampang depict the lack of commitment and eagerness of the councillors to properly manage the district and to provide the best in terms of sport activities for enthusiasts.

“Regular joggers at this complex told me that they’re perplexed as to why the councillors are ignorant to the condition of the complex and some even said that they (councillors) might not even know how to get in there.

Unlike Kota Kinabalu that has 4 running and jogging tracks (Likas Stadium, Tanjung Aru Perdana, Ujana Rimba and Tun Fuad Stephens Park, Penampang folks only has the sport complex for them to do their daily training and exercise.

This complex is being used by secondary and primary schools all over Penampang including some from Kota Kinabalu and Putatan not only for training purposes but also as venue of their respective sports day so the worn out track is dangerous and can injure schoolchildren

Thus one can see the importance of this sport complex but unfortunately, the district is badly managed by GRS and PH to the extent that whatever public facility that we used to be proud of (in Penampang), is slowly deteriorating,” he stated in a statement today.

Donald also said that PMC should also provide additional facilities in the sport complex to maximize its utilization among the divergent groups that frequent it.

“The night joggers made up mostly of office workers are still waiting for the commissioning of floodlights inside the sport complex that at one time created excitement among the enthusiasts in the district but have died down now when they realized GRS cannot deliver.

There should also be an exercise station in the complex, that is very popular among the elderly, similar to the one at Tun Fuad Stephen Park and while the GRS and PH district leaderships may not appreciate these static equipments, they should at least endeavour to provide it for the benefit of the elderly who come to the complex for their daily exercises.

What is the point of saying ‘Rumah Kita Kita Jaga’ if the district and more particularly the sport complex is badly managed?” he concluded.
