KOTA KINABALU : The District Monitoring Unit (UPD) of Parti Warisan Penampang urged the Member of Parliament for Kota Kinabalu, Chan Foong Hin and State Assemblyman for Luyang, Phoong Jin Zhe to be more proactive in finding solution on matters that affect the people in their constituency.

The Unit’s chief, Pritchard Gumbaris said there should be no problem for any Government’s elected representative who also sits in the governmental district management committee to ensure basic utlities and amenities of his/her constituent are in proper working condition.

“Several villagers have contacted our unit about the deplorable condition of rubbish collection centre for Kg. Kopungit Block B that is in a deplorable condition.
Upon inspection, we notice the roofing is torn down causing rainwater to fill the bins and this produces bad odour that attracts pests like flies and rats.

As governmental elected representatives who enjoy a combined Parliamentary and State Assembly allocations of millions of ringgit, Phoong and Chan are obliged to ensure proper condition of not only this rubbish collection centre at Kg Kopungit but other basic utilities and amenities at Kota Kinabalu as well.
This is more so when they are holding Deputy Federal Minister and State Minister of Industry post respectively so they can easily utilize a small portion of their allocations to upgrade this centre for the benefit of the people,” he stated in a statement today.
“And lest we forget, this badly maintained collection centre also exposes our rubbish collection workers to dangerous diseases so while I assume that both Phoong and Chan are now living comfortably, as Ministers, they should at least ensure the working conditions of our Sabahan government labour workers are much better compared to the 80s or 90s.
Afterall, this is the reason why we as leaders strive for higher education and pursue power – we want to ensure better life for everyone that we’re responsible to,” he concluded.
