The latest video released by businessman Albert Tei, implicating Sabah Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan in the mining scandal, has shaken the confidence of Sabahans in the GRS government.

It raises serious questions about corruption at the highest levels of government when allegations of cash handouts involving millions have resurfaced.

This is no longer just about politics but about trust, dignity and the future of Sabah.

“This scandal exposes what Warisan has long warned that all is not well within GRS.

For five years, GRS has promised to defend Sabah’s rights but while Sabahans are kept waiting, the scandals continue to mount,” said Warisan vice president, Terrence Siambun.

“How can Sabah claim its rights under MA63 when its leaders are compromised? The 40% revenue share remains stuck and the continental shelf rights remain unresolved,” he added.

Whatever progress was made on MA63 happened under Warisan when 17 out of 21 demands were agreed with the federal government.

Now we see internal cracks deepening. GRS component parties are uneasy partners with their own agendas and are held together not by principle but by political expedience.

With a leadership that is tainted by one corruption scandal after another, GRS has lost its direction and credibility.

Warisan offers a different path. We are a multiracial Sabah-based party that has chosen to go solo not out of weakness but out of principle.

Our loyalty is to the rakyat and not to fragile coalitions or backroom deals.

“The mining scandal video is a reminder to every Sabahan that fragile coalitions will always crack and when they do, it is the people who are left to carry the burden,” said Warisan supreme council member, Mudi Dubing.

“Families are still struggling with water shortages, poor roads and rising costs but their so-called leaders are caught up in scandals and power games,” he added.

Sabahans deserve leaders who place integrity above self-interest and a government that always puts the people first.
